thor, thrudheim, jord, last % of update work, and beyond


V0.4.5 only has some of its coding taskload left + some work in asgard

speaking of that work in asgard, i'm pushing the list of the names of the gods to v0.5. there's about a double digit number of gods and figures, that i still need to add in various places to fill various pantheon gaps. after all, i say this is a minor/medium update i'm working on, since the gods and more lore are the important things to add, right?

v0.5 is going to be mainly centered on just adding more of the gods. any list i write now is immediately going to become totally obsolete. i'll add the framing props now and the list later. compiling these names is a hefty information task, given that this project now has 44 pages worth of research notes to sift down into one short list. i'll hold off on doing that, until the upcoming batch of gods is included

speaking of the coding tasks, i'm close to getting about half the coding work done by my count, and that just leaves the other half. the stuff i just did is the "easy" bits, like how FYI adding in volume control, meant a rolling series of code changes from loading screen 1 + memory backbone forward all the way into the player themselves. you know, simple stuff like that.

the coding for the UI on the player even, is turning out to be a little more complicated then  i planned. it's not quite done yet.

next on the coding block is the complex tasks, and about 66% of that is just the chessboard function.

and once i have these things here done, the update is ready. so, here's some screenshots of what i have currently.

first is the state of the first loading screen (which has a widget appear on load success), and more work on the main menu.

things added to the main menu, were that black and white reference photos got given better image definition. also, some relevant cultural symbols were made into environment particles as plant stuff. its use is safe under site rules, as this is the correct historical/cultural context for it to be shown in. this entire projects goal is education, i refuse to omit relevant information.

some stuff about the volume menu had to get chopped in testing, but the scripting for the menu itself is now finally updated in full.

then we have THOR, JORD, servants and goats, and some pictures of updated thrudheim.

and then, one last screenshot of AEGIRs starting landmass work. i said a minor deity, but combining this with SKADIs mountains, i guess i just instead did the starting work for placing at least 13 of them (counting up the names off the top of my head from both households)

and, that's where things stand right now. i have 1 major level build task, and 3 coding tasks, and then i'm all set to go. more Ragnarok screenshots soon as well.

TLDR: see title. list of the gods pushed back to v0.5, an update that's going to add a lot of them. 1 minor deity changed into building the first steps of land for placing at least 13 deities instead.  4 tasks left and it's done.
