v0.4 release and changelog. also RE: april


THIS UPDATE

this updates main difficulties, were in the fact that several new tricks were used in making the newly added gods and deities. several of the added figures have only been absent so far because i haven't quite been able to properly build their designs on paper before this point. you have to understand that character design is hard, because it takes a lot of concentrated effort for such a small, contained package. the closer that figure gets to human shape or human form, the closer they get to the uncanny valley.

the closer this job gets to the uncanny valley, the more difficult it quickly gets in every other field. ask any artist why, they'll happily tell you.

apart from that, ripping out and rewiring the coordinate system of the chessboard, took a little bit of technical fiddling-around. i was able to do it though, even if so far all I've done is get the piece ID module running. now that i know what piece i'm working with, i can now do a lot of the things i want to do here in later updates.

controller support only got a control sheet note added, but, i need to do more research on this to actually add the real thing. here's the technical details shrunk down to an easy explanation.

input within the unity engine is set and defined. currently, one movement stick already works, but no buttons yet and not the other stick, and that's what i have so far WITHOUT adding in anything. button presses can be programmed into the coding, but movement axises like the stick that's currently dead is different, that's an input setting.

what i need to do here, is figure out how to change input settings correctly, to get the controller working on both movement sticks, not just one.

REGARDING APRIL

for April, 9 WORLDS might get a v0.4.5 release.

the chessboard functions are complex enough that i want to take a week or two to properly wire them in via the new coordinate system. it's one thing to have an accurate map finally, but another to use it.  minor-major content updates too. as mentioned before, i'm currently researching controller support.

the minor projects are going to get some attention during this month.

COSMOS PURITY, gabara's horse lasagna, etc. i'll tell you right away COSMOS PURITY has a rebuild post 50% done and either lying around currently as assets, or already built. i've got another post for that project lined up right out of the chute essentially. gabara's horse lasagna needs to be updated with the same coordinate base that the chessboard script was given, but, i can do more work on it now at least.

v0.4 CHANGELOG

-hel.

-baldr rigged up as a figure.

-error fixed: a bug existed where some look-at-player modules could not get correct coordinates unless the player was standing still on a solid surface. physics based reasons.

-odin. added to both his seat and his throne room in asgard.

-the camera on odin's throne got its FOV increased by a few degrees, thus making it more usable.

-jotunheim landmass and the river vimur added. small population of giants.

-minor world change: bodies of water had their effects and construction improved a little bit.

-ymir's cow.

-minor world change: helheim received a text box on it that can be seen from above.

-audio system slightly overhauled due to encountered errors during development. scripts and system modules had to be/are currently being, overhauled. please excuse minor audio glitches, these problems are being fixed.

-random teleport key was changed to a one-tap, not a hold-down.

-area FX script for midgard had 2 sub-areas added. top of the players tower, and the woods at the edge.

-iron-wood forest east of midgard.
-angrboda/Iárnvidia.
-various S P O O K Y troll-wives of the iron-wood.

-fenrir.

-heimdallr, his horn, and his horse.

-bifrost stations scattered around, but not yet fully functional. complex, but very quick (and highly theatrical) travel method being tested and built.

-baldr's murder story filled out.

-many serpents added to herveglmr.

-minor expansion work on existing topics within mimirs library.

-chessboard system was updated, and the piece ID module now works correctly. more functions to be hooked up in future updates.

-existing error: the chesspiece ID system may register "ghost readings" or "duplicate readings" sometimes, if the random rolls go certain ways. the system is still currently experimental.
